Tell Secretary Vilsack: Support animals, NOT factory farms ([link removed])

Friend,

Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack keeps acting like he doesn’t care about the voters who have made it clear they care about the welfare of farm animals. He has repeatedly publicly supported the segment of the Big Pork industry desperately trying to overturn California’s Prop 12—our nation’s strongest farm animal welfare law—through this year’s Farm Bill. And it’s not just Prop 12 at stake, if successful, 14 other states with similar laws could also be undone, dooming millions of animals to unbearable suffering.

Mother pigs need you to take action and send a message to Secretary Vilsack right now! ([link removed])

The Big Pork lobby and their allies in Congress are doing everything in their power to put a “fix” for California’s Prop 12 into the Farm Bill. But this isn’t a fix at all. It would overturn critical state laws that ban in-state sales of food produced using cruel and extreme confinement of animals on industrial farms.

By publicly advocating for Big Pork’s destructive agenda, Secretary Vilsack is siding with those producers instead of listening to the 80% of American voters who want humane policies and change.

Foreign-owned pork industry conglomerates may have Secretary Vilsack standing by their side, but animals have someone even more powerful standing up for them—YOU, friend. Take action and tell Secretary Vilsack to support Prop 12! ([link removed])

He’s also fueling an anti-democratic move that could wipe out many state-level laws that animals and consumers rely on!

That’s because the impact of the Prop 12 “fix” will go far beyond animal welfare laws, and could also affect laws meant to protect people. For example, laws prohibiting the sale of meat from animals fed arsenic or other toxins as well as laws prohibiting the sale of meat produced using forced labor could be overridden.

We can’t stay quiet while Secretary Vilsack spreads dangerous and misleading talking points that could set back our progress for years to come. That’s why we’re counting on your help to send a clear message now: Please, urge Secretary Vilsack to oppose the Big Pork industry’s schemes and keep the Prop 12 “fix” out of the Farm Bill! Sincerely,
