Monday marked two years since Roe v. Wade was overturned. This week, I’m reflecting on everything I’ve learned over the past two years.
First, we have all the proof we need that abortion is a winning issue in Michigan. When abortion is on the ballot — whether it’s a constitutional amendment to enshrine abortion rights in our state constitution or it’s a candidate who supports reproductive healthcare vs. an anti-abortion candidate — abortion wins.
Second, Democrats are fighting to protect and expand access to abortion and reproductive health care. Not only did Michigan Democrats remove an archaic anti-abortion law from 1931, but we passed laws that lifted regulations on abortion clinics to expand access.
Third, all of our progress could mean nothing if Trump is elected. Trump made it clear that he supports a national abortion ban which could override all of the work we have done to protect reproductive health care in Michigan.
We need to make sure Michigan voters know these three facts, which is why I’m asking you to make a contribution to support our voter outreach work this summer.
