These photographs shed light on the significant toll the pretrial system takes on defendants’ health, well-being, and social and economic stability. The final research report is expected to be released in the fall.

Prepregnancy health care engagement among American Indian and Alaska Native people
This study, published in Health Equity in May 2024, examines the engagement in prepregnancy health care among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) people before and after the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Findings suggest that the Affordable Care Act may have reduced, but not eliminated, health inequities between AI/AN birth givers and white birth givers.

Setting the record straight on racial wealth inequality
In this recently published article, Policies for Action researchers at Duke University highlight the misconceptions and false narratives surrounding racial wealth inequality. They point to the history of racist policies in the US and the uneven transmission of resources across generations as the main drivers perpetuating racial wealth gaps.
