Folks, it’s that time again: The FEC filing deadline is almost upon us!

You’re going to hear a lot about this deadline over the next few days, and for good reason. It’s a big deal for battleground campaigns like ours.

But before I ask you to chip in to help us hit our goal before the deadline, I think you deserve to know what the FEC deadline is, and why it matters so much.

Let’s start with the basics.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is responsible for monitoring the money coming into and out of federal campaigns and PACs. It plays a vitally important role in maintaining free and fair elections and protecting our democratic process from bad actors.

At the end of each fiscal quarter, all campaigns must file a report with the FEC. The report includes information like the amount, origin, and type of each contribution; a record of all expenditures; and total amount raised and spent.

After two weeks, these reports become publicly available – journalists, supporters, political experts, National Republicans, and of course, my far-right opponent Drew Johnson – can see exactly how our campaign is doing.

In other words, we have to lay all our cards on the table.

That’s why your small-dollar contributions make such a large impact: They help us put our money where our mouth is, and prove we have the resources and the grassroots support to win one of the nation’s most competitive races.

On June 30th, we’ll file our very first finance report of the General Election, so I’m asking for your help to make it our very best:
