Courts hand down victories for voters with disabilities

  • A Wisconsin judge will allow voters with disabilities to request and receive accessible absentee ballots via email during the November 2024 election following a lawsuit from disability and voting rights groups.


  • A lawsuit alleging that Alabama's voting system is inaccessible for those who are blind or have a print disability will move forward, a federal judge ruled. The plaintiffs argue the system violates the Americans with Disabilities Act.

House Democrats introduce a bill enshrining the right to vote

  • On the 11th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's Shelby County v. Holder decision weakening the Voting Rights Act, House Democrats, led by Rep. Summer Lee (D-Pa.), introduced a bill today to guarantee the right to vote in federal elections.


Louisiana passes two voter suppression laws

  • Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry (R) signed two more voter suppression bills into law that will restrict voter assistance and make it harder for people to hold voter registration drives. Landry has signed numerous other suppressive election laws this month.
