This is my favorite time of year: I'm heading back to San
Antonio to spend the holidays with my family and see friends --
and enjoy the Texas Christmas weather! But I wanted to
write to you about something important before we all get
wrapped up in this week's celebrations.

Samuel, my daughter just celebrated her second birthday,
and I've been thinking a lot about what her future is going to
look like. I'm so proud to be a member of the party that has
an optimistic view of what America is and can be. Democrats
want to give everyone a shot at the kinds of opportunities my
brother Julián and I had. Ours is a party that believes in
making quality education accessible to all, taking action to
fight climate change, and working together to make the world
a safer and more peaceful place, both abroad and at home.

These are Democratic values that I believe you and I
share, Samuel, and acting on them will make a better future
for our children's generation:

We're just nine days out from a new year, and in 2016,
our country is going to have some big decisions to make about
what our values are as we elect our next president. The stakes
couldn't be higher, and that's why I believe it is so important
that we put another Democrat in the White House and elect a
Congress who will work with him or her to protect our progress
and keep us moving toward an even brighter future.

But Democrats are going to be up against some very loud
Republican voices -- and the money that comes along with that.
That's why every single dollar we're able to raise before our
upcoming end-of-year deadline matters. Your support will help
us hit the ground running next year and make sure we're able to
do whatever it takes to elect Democrats up and down the ballot
