Thousands of Indivisibles from across the country took part in our Weekend of Action to focus voters' attention on MAGAs attacks on reproductive rights Indivisibles,
You've heard us say it before -- This movement is dedicated to doing everything we can to defeat Trump this November. But that's vague, so here's a glimpse of what regular folks doing all they can do looks like: Thousands of people braving a heatwave (and rain) to create media moments and focus their neighbors’ attention on one of the most important issues of the election, and one where the public is overwhelmingly on our side -- reproductive rights.
All across the country, Indivisibles showed up for our Majority Over MAGA Weekend of Action. They hosted over 130 rallies, protests, honk-a-thons, postcard writing parties, phonebanks, and every type of event you can think of to mark the anniversary of the Trump’s handpicked justices reversing Roe v. Wade and eliminating the Constitutional right to abortion.
We know we have challenges to overcome in this election. Polling shows Trump doing better than any of us would hope, we have the toughest Senate map in years, and there’s a contingent of voters who are so frustrated with the state of our politics they might sit out the election altogether. Anyone who cares about democracy or reproductive rights would be worried right now, but instead of dwelling on the polls and wringing our hands, Indivisibles are getting to work.
We’ve talked about our approach to this election: We need to frame November as a referendum on MAGA, remind voters that Trump is responsible for the end of Roe, and let them know he’ll sign a nationwide abortion ban the first chance he gets.
That’s exactly what Indivisible groups set out to do this weekend with events all across the country including in swing states and competitive congressional districts (we’re not letting Members of Congress off the hook for their decades-long attacks on reproductive rights). Activists carried Trump stand-ups declaring “I killed Roe” and rented billboard trucks letting voters know that their local politicians celebrated when the Supreme Court stripped away their rights.
We’re already seeing the impact their organizing is having. All of those creative events and rallies from the last few days are generating dozens of TV, newspaper, and radio hits with most of the coverage coming from crucial battleground states and districts.
We need more of this type of coverage between now and November. We need folks -- our neighbors, family, and friends -- to hear about the threats that Trump and MAGA members of Congress pose to our rights and democracy day in and day out. If they do, we know they will turn out to reject his extremist agenda. But we can’t make it happen without your help.
From press guidance to design and tech support, reimbursements, and more, it took a lot of resources to make this Weekend of Action happen. And if we want to keep this momentum going, we’ll need the support of grassroots donors pitching in what they can, when they can. So, if you’re able to give today and help us continue to do everything we can to defeat Trump, please pitch in in today.
