No one should ever be forced to choose between their life and exercising their right to vote.
But that is exactly the decision many of us may face in November if we don’t make Vote by Mail available to all voters now.
Democrats in Congress have been pushing to rapidly expand mail-in and absentee voting. But Trump is now attacking these efforts, smearing mail-in-voting as a “horrible idea.”
This is a shameless attempt to suppress votes. That’s why Women’s March is joining forces with other leading organizations to demand that all state governments enact Vote by Mail.
If Trump refuses to let Congress protect our right to vote during this pandemic, then we must turn to our state officials to guarantee our ability to vote safely. Please add your name to our petition and make sure every state leader hears our demands.

Just two weeks ago, we saw a devastating example of what happens when voters are forced to choose between their health and their vote.
Republicans in Wisconsin refused to delay the election or expand absentee voting for their primary. Thousands of voters ended up waiting in line in the middle of a global pandemic without proper protections, just so they could fulfil their democratic duty. We can’t let a disaster like this happen again on Election Day 2020.
But this means we need to get to work now. Trump is already trying to block Vote by Mail. The Postal Service is on the verge of bankruptcy, and Trump is refusing to give them the funding they need to stay open and make Vote by Mail possible. In addition, he’s made it clear that he plans on blocking any measure Congress passes to make Vote by Mail available.
Trump thinks he can get away with manipulating another election in his favor, but we’re ready to fight.
If we want to make sure every American can safely cast their ballot this November, we must start convincing our state leaders now to pass measures and begin making preparations. It’s critical we show overwhelming support for Vote by Mail if we want our leaders to listen.
