The 40s are when cardiovascular and cancer risks begin to rise. “It’s an important time for optimizing blood pressure, cholesterol, weight, physical activity—all of that—because frankly, much of this gets harder and more is at stake once you get through menopause,” a cardiologist tells Nat Geo.
