Hi John,
This spring has been full of celebrations! 🌼 We kicked off April by celebrating the cultures of the Middle Eastern, North African (MENA), and South West Asian, North African (SWANA) regions with an in-office social hosted by our Saffron employee resource group. In May, we honored AAPI Heritage Month with a host of panel talks, discussions and mental health events. We are wrapping up this quarter by honoring Juneteenth and celebrating Pride with a handful of events centered around our Pride theme of He/She/They/Us recognizing the full spectrum of the LGBTQ+ rainbow. 🏳️🌈
And lots of celebrations in between, like National Volunteer Month, Administrative Professionals Day, Earth Day and more! Continue reading to learn more about the ways in which we have been coming together this month, all while continuing to push our work forward!

Celebrating He/She/They/Us
Happy Pride Month! We are proud to stand with and celebrate the diversity and resilience of our LGBTQ+ community. Our employee resource group for LGBTQ+ CZIers chose He/She/They/Us as their Pride theme to celebrate the full spectrum of the LGBTQ+ rainbow and honor and uplift our transgender community. We believe everyone deserves to live authentically and without fear, regardless of who they love or who they are.

Dr. Priscilla Chan, co-founder and co-CEO of CZI, shared her perspective on how AI will pave the way for new breakthroughs in biology at a recent event with the New York Academy of Sciences.

Patricia Brennan, Vice President of Science Technology at CZI, and Theofanis Karaletsos, Head of AI for Science at CZI, recently joined STAT reporter Nicholas St. Fleur for a sponsored fireside chat session at the STAT 2024 Breakthrough Summit West ([link removed] ) — an annual convening that brings together leaders in technology and biomedicine to explore the frontiers of science and medicine. Their conversation focused on the potential and promise of AI for deepening the scientific community’s understanding of human biology, including CZI’s vision to build virtual cell models that can help scientists predict the behavior of healthy and diseased cells.
