Together, we've moved this country forward in ways that many
thought impossible eight years ago. But our work
doesn't end when I leave the White House.

I'd like to tell you that electing a Democratic president
this November will be enough to make sure we can tackle the
challenges of the future. I'd like to say that, even without
a functioning and supportive Congress, the next president
could reform our criminal justice system, transform our
educational system, continue to grow our economy and shrink
our uninsured rate, and protect the rights of the most
vulnerable amongst us.

But that's not how our government works.

One person simply can't do this work alone -- even with
remarkable support from people like you, Samuel. We have three
branches for a reason -- to get things done, to compromise,
to balance one another. But that balance is thrown off when
a group of Republican lawmakers is only focused on partisan
political obstructionism, without concern for the
consequences.

And just recently, we've seen scientists urging immediate
action on climate change, people standing in line for hours
to vote because they no longer have the full protections of
the Voting Rights Act, and Republican lawmakers voting to
legalize discrimination against the LGBT community.

Look, Samuel: I know we are going to fight our hardest to
put another Democrat in the Oval Office, but we need to also
make sure that we give that person allies they can work with
-- and the way we do that is by electing Democrats up and
down the ballot this November. That's why the DNC has
created the Democratic Majority Fund. Pitch in $3 or
whatever you can before Thursday's deadline to say you're
committed to giving the next Democratic president a real
chance to make a difference in American lives for
generations to come:
