Climate justice is an LGBTQ+ issue, and here's why it matters this Pride Month.

John — Pride Month is personal to me.

Coming out as bisexual in 2020 was a powerful and liberating moment that reinforced my commitment to fight for the rights and dignity of every LGBTQ+ Texan, especially our trans neighbors who face harmful and hateful legislation.

Just last month, I secured a historic win in the special election for District 15, becoming the first openly LGBTQ+ member to serve in the Texas Senate. Now, I need your support to beat my far-right Republican opponent in November to hold this seat and continue our fight for climate justice.

I’m Molly Cook — a proud Texan, an organizer, an ER nurse, and someone ready to shake up the status quo. Will you join me by making a split contribution — just $5 or $10 — between my campaign and the Jane Fonda Climate PAC before our critical end-of-quarter fundraising deadline? Together, we can build a future where justice and sustainability go hand in hand.

Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed how inequality and injustice intertwine and amplify each other. Social and environmental justice are deeply connected.

Research shows that areas with higher proportions of same-sex couples experience increased amounts of hazardous air pollutants, leading to higher rates of chronic diseases such as respiratory diseases, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Additionally, LGBTQ+ people often face discriminatory housing policies, which can result in higher exposure to indoor environmental hazards like lead paint and asbestos.

And that’s just scratching the surface.

The intersection of environmental and LGBTQ+ justice is clear: fighting for a sustainable future means fighting for a future where everyone, regardless of their identity, can thrive. Our policies must address both environmental sustainability and the rights of all people, ensuring no one is left behind in our pursuit of justice.

To achieve these goals, we need strong allies. The Jane Fonda Climate PAC is a crucial partner in this fight, and I am proud to have their endorsement. They are dedicated to electing climate champions who are unafraid to challenge the status quo. Supporting them means backing leaders who will fight relentlessly for environmental justice and our future.

John, please consider making a split contribution to my campaign and the Jane Fonda Climate PAC before the end of the quarter. Your support will help us continue fighting for equality, climate action, and a brighter future for all Texans.
