Perhaps one of the few things that has allowed Americans to continue to feel some sense of normalcy during the coronavirus pandemic is the ability to receive mail. Even as millions of Americans are relegated to their homes to help stop the spread of COVID-19, nearly half a million United States Postal Service (USPS) workers are working hard-even if unseen or unnoticed-to deliver lifesaving medications, heartfelt letters from family members, election ballots, and countless other critical necessities.

Now imagine the pandemic without any of the mail or packages you've received via the USPS. Thanks to President Donald Trump, you may not have to use your imagination. President Trump has blocked vital funding to the USPS, meaning that our post offices may shut down as early as June. Nearly half million U.S. postal workers may soon be without jobs-and millions more Americans will be without mail.

This week, te Center for American Progress launched the #SaveThePostOffice campaign to stop Trump from making this a reality and show postal workers what their work and sacrifices have meant to us, our friends, and our families. Join us.

Immigrants Are Essential.

Immigrants have always been an essential and defining part of America. From the country's founding, to its rich and tragic history, to its economy, to its very culture, the United States would not be what it is today if not for immigrants. That fact remains unchanged by the coronavirus pandemic. Immigrants who are nationalized, undocumented, under Temporary Protected Status (TPS), or hold one of the many statuses in between are risking their lives to sustain or save others on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic. Many of these lifesaving workers are the same people who Trump has demonized, targeted, and attempted to deport since the moment he became president. This moment illustrates why we must fight to protect immigrant communities, today and always.
