"Snout" and About
What comes with spots, stripes, and a tiny flexible trunk? The female
tapir calf Luna recently welcomed at the San Diego Zoo! Tapirs are
born with unique markings on their fur. In native habitat, these help
young calves blend into their surroundings and fade after a few
months. Tapirs are endangered, and this little one is a crucial
addition to the global population.
