Dear Friend,
We have an ongoing obligation to the brave men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to protect our freedoms. Last week, we continued our work to support Minnesota’s veterans by cosponsoring legislation aimed at providing housing resources and hosting our second Veterans’ Resource Fair in the Sixth District.
On Wednesday, our office hosted a Veterans’ Resource Fair in Carver County. During the event, attendees heard from our legislative and casework teams on current legislation and resources to support veterans. Our first Veterans’ Resource Fair was held in March in Elk River.
We were also joined by representatives from the Carver County Veterans Service Office, the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, the Disabled Veterans of Minnesota, the National Association of Atomic Veterans, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #425 who provided updates on the work their organizations are doing to provide resources, community, and support to local veterans.
I also recently cosponsored legislation aimed at providing additional housing resources to veterans. The nonpartisan Disabled Veterans Housing Support Act works to ensure disabled veterans aren’t unfairly excluded from housing assistance opportunities by excluding service-connected disability compensation from the eligibility criteria. This small correction will have a big impact to ensure no veteran is prevented from getting the resources they have earned.
Our work to make sure our veterans get the benefits and recognition they have earned is never complete. We will never stop fighting for those who have sacrificed so much for our great country.
If you are a veteran or member of a military family and need casework assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our office in Otsego at (763) 241-6848 or Chaska at (952) 262-2999.
Sincerely,
|
