Dear John,
Imagine being fired by an automated message through an app. Uber calls this “deactivation,” but for drivers it means suddenly losing access to work and income. To make things worse, drivers rarely get information about why they’ve been deactivated, and aren’t provided with an accessible way to appeal or get reinstated. The threat of getting deactivated hangs over drivers' heads—they know they can lose their jobs at any time with no explanation. For too long, Uber has used this unjust business practice to bully drivers and keep them working in fear.
Now, drivers from across the US are uniting to end unfair deactivations and demand new rules: transparency, fairness, and an accessible appeals process.
