Dear MoveOn member,

In a secret recording of a keynote speech at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago
resort, Trump adviser Roger Stone just revealed the MAGA plan to win on
November 5:^1

Turn the legal system against the people of the United States.

Stone described how in 2020, there "were no preparations, none," but this
time, they will push claims of voter fraud, and they have lawyers and "a
judge's home number [and who is] standing by" ready to overturn the
election results.^2

John, for months now, we have been talking about our $32
million plan to win the election by reaching nearly 1.5 million surge
voters in critical states. But it's clear that we need to be prepared to
keep fighting after the election no matter what happens on November 5. We
have to have the resources to make the voices of the people more powerful
than Trump's lawyers and the judges he has in his pocket.

[ [link removed] ]We must be prepared to stop Donald Trump's attempt to steal the
election in November, but we are already facing a budget shortfall. Will
you pitch in $9 to make sure we are able to rally to defend
our democracy on November 6 and beyond?

Stone isn't just talk when it comes to interfering with election results.

He's an influential adviser to Trump and was convicted of lying to
Congress about his role in the Russia plot to discredit Hillary Clinton in
the 2016 campaign. He was facing more than three years in prison before
Trump pardoned him.^3 And in 2000, he helped organize the Brooks Brothers
Riot that shut down the Florida ballot recount and ended up swinging the
election to George W. Bush.^4

Moreover, the Republican National Committee has shifted an enormous
section of its budget to so-called "election integrity," which they
interpret as intimidating voters at the polls, sending an army of lawyers
to swing states to challenge results, and harassing poll workers.^5 And
money is pouring into the effort—just this week, billionaire Timothy
Mellon donated $50 million to a pro-Trump group, one of the largest single
campaign gifts in history.^6

So when Roger Stone says that Trump's campaign is "gearing up for
full-blown warfare" to overturn the election, we need to believe him.^7

[ [link removed] ]On November 5, we have to be ready to protect voters and poll workers
and be on high alert for election interference. And, on November 6 and
beyond, we must have the resources to mobilize millions of people to stop
any effort to overturn the election results. Will you chip in
$9 now?

The trouble is, John, this is major work, and it needs major
funds behind it.

First, we need to win this election. And we are already working overtime
this summer, attempting to reach nearly 1.5 million surge voters—those who
were activated by the 2016 election but need a bit of a push to get to the
polls this time—across multiple platforms (through the mail, on the
phones, on social media, and in person) because data shows that using
multiple points of contact dramatically increases turnout with this group.

And we're supercharging this effort by employing grassroots outreach,
meaning that voters will be hearing our message from real people talking
directly to them, rather than generic ads or robocalls. With trust in
institutions and the media at an all-time low, this is key to making sure
our messages have the largest impact.

We're also layering in our successful "vote tripling" tactic, an
additional form of relational organizing in which volunteers will sign up
to "triple" their vote by identifying three family members or friends
they'll work with to create voting plans and make sure they make it to the
polls.

Unfortunately, fundraising for progressive organizations is at an all-time
low, and MoveOn is no exception. We're really worried that when we get to
November 6, we just won't have the money to defend our democracy against
Trump's attempt to steal the election.

Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? The MAGA movement's book bans have forced
teachers and librarians across the country to remove books from their
shelves and censor what young people can learn. MoveOn is fighting back,
including by filling a "Banned Bookmobile" with books that the far right
has banned and driving it to key cities and towns to raise the visibility
of book bans, hand out banned books for free, and bring people together to
stop censorship. To keep up the fight against book bans and the MAGA
politicians who support them, we need your help.

Will you make a gift to power MoveOn's critical work?

[ [link removed] ]Yes, I'll chip in.
