Two years ago today, the radical Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade stripped away a constitutional freedom that was law for nearly 50 years. For the first time, women have less rights than their mothers and grandmothers.
When I marched for abortion rights in D.C. as a college student, I never could have imagined we’d be here now – an America in which women are forced to go into sepsis before receiving care and where 12-year-olds are forced to give birth.
The Dobbs decision handed over our healthcare choices to judges and politicians rather than women. Here in Washington, we've seen a more than 50% increase in out-of-state patients – making it harder for Washington state residents to access appointments.
And make no mistake: MAGA extremists are hellbent on passing a national abortion ban. We’ve seen it time and again this year – they’ve tried to add anti-abortion provisions to the agriculture funding bill, the defense bill, and other critical legislation. We also know where they’re going next: they’ve refused to restore federal protections for IVF.
As your Representative for Washington's 6th Congressional District, I’ll fight like hell against a national abortion ban that would override our state protections in Washington state. And together, we will restore federal protections for abortion and all reproductive care.
