Two years ago today, the U.S. Supreme Court made a decision that would forever change access to reproductive healthcare. Two years ago today, the Supreme Court ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade — setting off a wave of efforts to eliminate or limit this right that Americans counted on for nearly fifty years.
Since then, we’ve seen state legislature after state legislature move to further restrict abortion. In Congress, my anti-choice colleagues have sponsored legislation that would ban abortion nationally, ban IVF, and even limit access to contraception.
Despite the fact that the majority of Americans support abortion access — right, left, and center — the push to control women’s bodies and their decisions continues. Just in Texas earlier this month, a woman suffering from a miscarriage was denied medical care and almost lost her life. This is unacceptable.
I won’t rest until women once again have the autonomy to make their own personal medical decisions without the government interfering.
But John, I am up for re-election in November. If I don’t win, I can’t keep fighting for reproductive freedom in the U.S. Senate. Right now, I am facing my end-of-quarter fundraising deadline, and my team has set a goal of raising $30,000 before Sunday at midnight. Can you help me reach that goal so I can keep doing the work I am so committed to?
Sincerely,
Angus
