[ [link removed] ]Ayanna Pressley for Congress
Two years
ago today was a shameful day in the history of reproductive rights — and
the history of our country, period.
I remember two years ago today feeling both shocked and unsurprised that
the Supreme Court made the cruel decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. I
remember standing on the steps of the Supreme Court with my colleagues and
being arrested for civil disobedience. I remember how hurt and angry I
felt, and how those feelings never went away.
The aftermath of that ruling has been devastating:
Abortion is now illegal in 14 states.
Private healthcare needs have been dragged into the national spotlight.
Anti-abortion activists are taking people to court for seeking abortion
care.
People are being arrested for miscarrying in their own homes.
We’re seeing patients in need turned away from emergency rooms.
Clinics across the country are shutting down.
Restrictions to care are falling hardest on Black, brown, low-income,
LGBTQ+, Indigenous folks, the disabled, and more of the most marginalized.
People that we know, love, and care for are scared about their futures.
This is exactly what far right-extremists wanted — to take away our rights
and control our bodies. The Dobbs ruling has become a matter of life and
death, and the GOP is far from finished.
Project 2025, the far-right manifesto outlining Republicans' vision for a
second Trump term, proclaims “The Dobbs decision is just the beginning.”
They want to ban the word “abortion” from every federal grant, agency, and
piece of legislation.
Just the beginning. But the power of the people
will always be greater than the people in power. We need to be reminded of
that today as we look towards the fight ahead.

across the country. Will you make a split a gift right now between this
campaign and the National Network of Abortion Funds to help fight to keep
abortion legal and safe?

Let me be clear: abortion care is on the ballot nationwide this year, and
we cannot get complacent. Anti-abortion extremists at every level of
government will continue to rip away critical healthcare from millions as
they march us closer to a national abortion ban.
They’re coming for our freedoms and for our bodies.
But our people-powered movement is stronger, and the people demand and
deserve access to abortion care and reproductive freedom. That’s why
Congress must pass my Abortion Justice Act and the Women’s Health
Protection Act to codify the right to abortion care once and for all. We
won’t stop fighting to affirm our rights.
I look forward to the day when our bodily autonomy is truly our own.
Yours in service,
Ayanna
