Let me start with the obvious: no one really likes to receive political emails. I don't either. And I get A LOT.

Out of all of the emails you receive over the course of the day, these aren't the ones you see and immediately want to open. They don't give you the same feeling you get when you see a message pop-up from a loved one or a long-lost friend.

But the unfortunate reality is that the response to these emails represent a significant portion of the money we have to raise in order to fund a winning campaign. Otherwise no one would think to send so many.

They're even more important when you make the decision -- like I did -- to reject corporate PAC money.

So I try hard to make these emails different than most other campaigns. There's no fake matches or over-the-top language. I either write or edit them all so you know you are hearing from me directly.

But that doesn't change the fact that we send them to a large number of people, realizing only a small percentage will give on any single day. And the hope is that over time, those donations add up.

I hope today is the day you choose to be one of the small percentage of people who got this email and choose to give. Republican spending has ramped up, we're in an FEC deadline month, and we're pacing short of our goals. So please:

Can you do something you may not have expected to do this morning and contribute $ASK directly to my campaign for United States Senate in Michigan? I would not send these messages were they not so important.

Thank you for opening, for reading, and for donating today. It means a lot.
