Saludos, John, it’s Gabe Vasquez. On this day two years ago, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade — threatening access to abortion for women across America and leading to countless assaults by Republicans on reproductive freedom in the years since.
But my opponent, Yvette Herrell, celebrated the Supreme Court’s decision to strip away critical rights and freedoms from millions of Americans.
She’s publicly stated that she wishes New Mexico had “eliminated ALL abortion,” proudly sponsored a bill that would criminalize women who sought abortion during her time in the State Legislature and co-sponsored the Life at Conception Act in 2021 — which would have banned abortion nationally with NO exceptions.

John, they say that when people show you who you are, you should believe them — and Yvette Herrell has shown us time and time again exactly who she is: an anti-choice extremist who will stop at nothing to destroy reproductive freedom entirely.
But this is EXACTLY the kind of person MAGA Republicans like Donald Trump and Mike Johnson want in Congress, and they’ll stop at nothing to defeat me in 2024. Now that the general election has officially begun, the gloves are off — and national Republican groups and super PACs are pouring millions of dollars in dark money into this race.
In just the past two months, outside groups like the Congressional Leadership Fund dropped $3 MILLION in ad buys into this district, Donald Trump formally endorsed my opponent and the NRCC attacked me personally 26 TIMES.
But they don’t know what they’re up against. They don’t know how powerful this grassroots movement is. They don’t know that Team Vasquez is ready to defeat MAGA extremism at the ballot box a second time.
Make no mistake, John: this race is going to be close. In 2022, I won by less than 1,500 votes, and NM-02 is one of just eight Democratic toss-ups in the House. But we’ve done it before, and I know we can win if each and every member of Team Vasquez steps up.
