Today marks the two-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s tragic and reprehensible decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Since that day, we’ve seen legislatures around the country pass near-total abortion bans, and daily horror stories of women being tortured as they lose pregnancies and doctors are unable to treat them. Virginia remains one of the few places in the South where people can get care, and we’ve faced attacks on abortion in our state thanks to our Glenn Youngkin and the extreme Republicans in the state legislature.
But next year, imagine this: a bill to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law comes to the House floor, we vote, and we win! It passes in the House, and the Senate, and President Biden signs it into law and suddenly, women across the country have their rights back.
It’s a great vision, right? And when the next Congress comes around, it is my hope that I’ll get to vote YES on that bill. But to get there, we have a long way to go and a hard battle to fight. Can you help us fight it?
It’s time for that to change - reproductive rights are human rights. Women should make their own choices, not Republican politicians who think they know better.
