Two years, team.
After right-wing billionaires stacked the Supreme Court with anti-abortion justices, it all paid off for them two years ago today when they ripped away the right to abortion care – a right that had been in place for almost 50 years – in the blink of an eye.
And the fallout has been devastating for women. Earlier this month, I held a hearing where Dallas resident Lauren Miller told her story. Because of an extreme abortion ban in Texas, Lauren wasn’t deemed “close enough to death” to receive the abortion she needed to save the life of her healthy twin. She had to travel hours to Colorado to get care during a harrowing medical emergency.

Lauren traveled hundreds of miles and spent thousands of dollars to get the care she needed. She described what it was like to return to Texas after her abortion, saying that as a woman in Texas, “...we’re silenced. We’re erased."
After sharing her story, not one Republican on the Committee engaged with Lauren. Her own Texas Senator Ted Cruz didn’t even attend the hearing, team.
Not only do Republicans continue to pass dangerous abortion bans, but they’re working to bar women like Lauren from leaving their state to receive abortion care. I have introduced a bill to protect the right of women to travel across state lines. It's an outrage that that bill is actually necessary.
Republican attacks on women’s reproductive rights never end. And if they win the Senate this November? They could very well take their attacks one step further, not only passing a NATIONAL abortion ban, but grabbing control of the Supreme Court nomination process.
On the two-year anniversary of Roe being overturned, we’re reminded that the stakes are as high as they've ever been for women's freedoms. Which is why I’m asking for your help.
