Dear John,

Mayor Adams and the City Council have until June 30 to finalize a budget deal. That means we have less than a week to win #GreenHealthySchools in the NYC budget.

Right now, students and teachers are facing heat waves and high levels of air pollution – both exacerbated by our schools’ reliance on aging fossil fuel infrastructure.

Our Green, Healthy Schools plan will invest $600 million into our NYC public schools to create healthier, safer, and more climate resilient buildings for ALL students, teachers and faculty.

So far we have sent over 8,000 emails to our elected leaders urging them to adopt our demands in the FY25 Budget. Will you join our fight and use our one-click email tool to call on Mayor Adams and the City Council to invest in climate justice in our schools?

We have seen the effects of the climate crisis: storms flooding school hallways, wildfire smoke exacerbating asthma and other health problems, and record temperatures suffocating students in crowded classrooms. This is the daily reality of NYC public school students and staff.

We're calling for Green, Healthy Schools so that all New Yorkers have access to clean air, healthy learning environments, and safe workplaces. Use our one-click tool to fight for #GreenHealthySchools in the NYC budget.

In solidarity,

Faiza Azam

Labor and Climate Organizer
