It is infuriating. Nearly every week, I read about cruel new abortion restrictions enacted in state legislatures across the country. Exactly two years ago, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and eliminated the constitutional right to an abortion. Since then, Republican lawmakers have worked overtime to come up with countless new ways to restrict reproductive freedom.

Louisiana, for example, recently made possessing abortion pills without a prescription punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Tennessee is now penalizing adults who help minors access abortions. Kansas lawmakers are requiring medical providers to ask patients a series of intrusive and traumatizing questions about why they are seeking an abortion before providing the procedure. Idaho joined 13 other states in enacting a near-total ban on abortions. In Missouri, Republicans blocked an attempt to add rape and incest as an exception to their state’s abortion ban. Enough is enough.

I’m sick of this, and I know you are too. It’s time for Congress to step up and protect reproductive freedom. If Democrats retake control of the House this November, you can be sure that protecting reproductive freedom will be at the top of our agenda.
