John,
At a recent event, a local businessman introduced me to a large crowd, explaining why he was supporting my campaign.
He mentioned my work in Congress, he named particular bills I’ve passed, he highlighted my work across party lines, and then he said something that garnered the greatest response from the audience — he said that he and his wife are expecting their first child — a daughter — and he wants her rights to be protected and he trusts me to do just that.
I’m reflecting on his words and the stories I’ve heard from people across Virginia and the country since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade exactly two years ago today.
People of all ages who worry about the ongoing attacks on women’s rights and who fear that they or the women in their lives might someday not be able to receive the care they need because of continued attacks on our reproductive freedoms.
Tragically, we know their worry and fears are justified — because we’ve seen women in other states suffer as attacks on our freedoms and state laws further restrict abortion access.
As the next Governor of Virginia, I will stand up to these attacks. I will defend our fundamental freedoms — including the right to choose, the right to privacy, and the right to contraception.
But I can’t do this alone. I need your support to stop extreme politicians and judges from dictating the healthcare decisions women can make. Your support powers our efforts to protect and restore our rights.
Will you contribute to my campaign so I can continue advocating for progress and protecting the right to choose?
