Hi, it's Tim Kaine.
Today marks two years since Donald Trump’s hand-picked Supreme Court majority overturned Roe v. Wade.
In the years since, the American people have elected pro-choice candidates in races across the country. More than six-in-ten (63%) say abortion should be legal in all or most cases, according to Pew Research [[link removed].] . Statewide ballot measures supporting abortion rights passed in Ohio, California, Kentucky, Michigan, and Vermont, and extreme anti-choice measures were defeated in Kansas and Montana.
Despite that, right-wing state legislatures have successfully passed extreme abortion bans or restrictions in the absence of Roe in 21 states — including every state in the South besides Virginia.
Here’s the bottom line: The American people have spoken loud and clear — and they support reproductive freedom. That’s why I was one of the first Senators to introduce bipartisan legislation codifying the protections of Roe into law back in 2022.
The Reproductive Freedom for All Act would protect a woman’s right to abortion and contraception, undoing the damage of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe.
On this solemn anniversary, I hope you’ll stand with me by voicing your support for the Reproductive Freedom for All Act by adding your name to my petition here. It only takes a few seconds. [[link removed]]
