*Southfield Man Found Guilty of 2018 Murder*





*LANSING *? Last Friday, Reginald William Ramsey, 53, of Southfield, was found guilty of?one count of second-degree murder by a Wayne County jury in connection to the?death of 77-year-old Thomas Ellis, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.??

On May 26, 2018, Ramsey broke into the victim?s home searching for his wife, who was a family member. During the break-in, Ramsey struggled with and killed Ellis. He then removed Ellis from the home and transported him?to an?alley nearby, where Ramsey set his body?on fire. Ellis? body was discovered days later. To identify the remains, an anthropologist was consulted to determine the race, height, weight, and gender of the remains, and a?forensic dentist was consulted to confirm?the identity. ??

?I am grateful to the prosecutors in my office?for pursuing these charges and commend the jury for their service,? Nessel said. ?While I know nothing can bring back Mr. Ellis, whose life was tragically lost, I hope the verdict offers a sense of closure for his loved ones.??

Sentencing will occur on July 10th at noon?in front of Judge Anne Marie McCarthy of the 3rd Circuit?Court in Wayne County.?
