June 24, 2024

Dear Georgian,

Last Wednesday was Juneteenth, where we celebrate the day in 1865 when the last enslaved Americans were granted their freedom. Freedom is a core principle of our great nation, and we should celebrate freedom and equality every day.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have comments or concerns to share with me, please do not hesitate to call my Warner Robins, Tifton, or Washington, D.C. offices. To receive frequent updates, I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on YouTube, and follow me on X.

Keep reading for the full update.

Sincerely,

Meeting with Philanthrofilms and South Georgia Studios

I went over to Quitman last week and met with Philanthrofilms and South Georgia Studios to learn about their tireless work to bring South Georgians into the film industry.

Philanthrofilms is dedicated to educating our local workforce in film to support the industry and economic development in Georgia. I toured the office with organization founder Cathy Parker, who is spearheading efforts to provide these opportunities to our constituents.

I also met with South Georgia Studio’s team to tour their offices and learn about their plans to build an amazing studio in our district. Their team is doing innovative work with AI technology to support their projects. Thank you to Honnie Korngold for showing us around!

Valdosta Daily Times | Community Leaders attend Chamber-led Community DC Fly-In

"The Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce recently led a delegation of community leaders to the nation’s capital from June 5-7.

Organized by the Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber, the trip provided an invaluable platform for local leaders to engage directly with federal legislators and their staff members on critical issues affecting the community.

The delegation included prominent leaders from various sectors of the Valdosta-Lowndes community, including business, economic development, education, healthcare, and local government. The top takeaway that the group presented was that the Valdosta-Lowndes community values the importance of working together to create better opportunities and an improved quality of life for the citizens and businesses...

Throughout the trip, the delegation met with key senators and congressmen, including Rep. Austin Scott, chief of staff for Rep. Buddy Carter, legislative director for Rep. Sanford Bishop, Sen. Raphael Warnock and Sen. Jon Ossoff. Discussions focused on various crucial topics, from healthcare and education to economic development and military support."
