John, today marks two years since Roe v. Wade was overturned.

When the Supreme Court sent abortion back to the states, right-wing extremists at every level immediately went after reproductive freedoms – from abortion pill restrictions to outright bans on abortion access.

Make no mistake, John: If Democrats lose the White House and the Senate, GOP extremists will pass a national abortion ban. And they’ll keep on packing anti-abortion judges into the courts to squash any last vestige of reproductive freedom.

But together, we can turn around the impacts of Roe’s reversal and stop the GOP’s anti-abortion agenda. With state and local elections having more power than ever in deciding the fate of our reproductive freedoms, it’s critical that we put more young progressives in power who will take on right-wing extremists and protect our ability to make our own health care choices. 

We can put a stop to abortion attacks and protect the future of reproductive freedom by recruiting and electing more young progressives at the state and local level. Chip in now to help us put more young progressives in power and bring an end to extremist attacks on our reproductive rights.

Protecting abortion access is a community task, one that multiple state and local office holders have a hand in:

• State legislators can introduce legislation that expands abortion access and blocks trigger laws.
• District attorneys can refuse to prosecute abortion cases, and judges can dismiss cases.
• City councilmembers can set up abortion funds and create safe harbor ordinances.
• School board members can advocate for comprehensive sex education.

From our school boards to our state legislatures, state and local officials are on the front lines in the battle to defend abortion care. And Run for Something is working hard to elect these diverse, young progressives who will do all this and more to protect and defend reproductive rights for everyone.
