Friend,
Do you agree that vulnerable animals deserve basic protections from cruelty and neglect? Do you think essential protections for animals should apply in every industry, from agriculture to drug and cosmetic testing? We do. If you’re with us, please make an urgent donation of $20 or more to the Humane Society Legislative Fund now to help hit our $30,000 end-of-quarter goal by midnight, June 30, and continue our fight to end animal suffering.
Here’s why your gift is so crucial today. Right now, the Farm Bill has started to move through Congress and it contains dangerous language attempting to “fix” Prop 12—our nation's strongest farm animal welfare law. But this language is really just a hand-out to giant multinational pork producers that want to keep farm animals locked in cruel and extreme confinement. And it’s not just the basic protection of farm animals that’s at stake, every other battle we fight at the state level could become even harder.
We’re not exaggerating when we say it would be a disaster if this dangerous language in the Farm Bill becomes law. Even basic protections for humans are at stake, like keeping arsenic and lead out of our food and and ensuring it’s not produced with child labor. A portion of the pork industry is willing to sacrifice these rights and more just to squeeze more profits out of abused pigs.
Please: Will you help the Humane Society Legislative Fund fight back and stop the partisan version of the Farm Bill from advancing any further and power all our fights to protect animals by making a donation now? We’re counting on advocates like you, who know how high the stakes are, to help us hit our end-of-quarter goal and continue our urgent work for all animals who need us.
We can’t win this battle without you.
