The latest on the NDIS Bill
The NDIS Bill was passed by the House of Representatives. It has yet to pass the Senate. The Senate have the power to make amendments, block or pass the Bill. Last week, the Senate handed down their report. We had hoped it would address the many concerns raised by our community.
But it did not.
In response, Every Australian Counts joined with disability representative organisations to express our serious concerns and to call for major amendments that will protect our NDIS. This is part of the joint statement:
"People with disability feel a loss of trust in the Parliamentary process that promises to listen to us, as we contemplate significant reform to the services and supports provided through the scheme. The NDIS Amendment Bill needs significant amendment to make sure that people with disability don’t lose lifesaving disability support."
To get a better understanding of the kind of amendments that we need to see in the Bill and what it all means, check out the podcast below with NDIS expert El Gibbs and disability law expert Mitchell Skipsey.
