John,
Tomorrow marks two years since the Supreme Court overturned Roe and left us without federal abortion protections.
We have achieved so much over the past two years because of our grassroots supporters, and we’re reaching out today with a reflection and an ask.
Today, we remain enraged at this egregious rollback of our rights and devastated for every patient who has not been able to access the care they deserve.
While Roe was never enough, the impact of its loss has still been seismic. In the past two years, 14 states have enacted total abortion bans, and an additional 6 states have enacted bans with early gestational limits. More than half of women between the ages of 18 and 49 live in states with bans.
In addition to abortion bans, extremists have pushed forward attacks on telemedicine, birth control, and IVF, making clear that the end of Roe was also the beginning of a new assault on our rights.
And yet, we have so many reasons to be hopeful. Polling continues to show that the vast majority of Americans , across every state, believe that personal healthcare decisions should be made between patients and doctors, without the interference of politicians. Every time abortion has been on the ballot since the fall of Roe, it has won.
And together, we’ve accomplished so much: winning state Supreme Court seats in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan, legislative majorities in Virginia, and key local seats in places like Georgia and Texas.
These wins show us that the pathway to victory in 2024 runs through state and local elections. These community leaders are on the frontlines of defending our most basic rights, and when we invest in these races, we win.
So today, can you join our movement with a gift of any amount?
This work would not be possible without the support of our grassroots donors. This is a tough anniversary, but we remain fundamentally hopeful about the future we’re building together.
With gratitude,
The Vote Pro-Choice Team
