Tomorrow marks two years since the Dobbs versus Jackson Women's Health Organization Supreme Court ruling, which struck down Roe v. Wade as the law of the land.

This is one of the biggest setbacks to reproductive rights in our history. The Dobbs decision puts lives at danger, and it takes away freedoms many of us once took for granted.

Immediately after the fall of Roe v. Wade, states across the country introduced new restrictions to abortions or reinstated old laws banning reproductive care.

And in response, people across the country fought back.

In so many corners of our nation, people protested in their communities; they demanded that Congress legalize abortion; and in the 2022 and 2023 elections, they overwhelmingly voted in favor of abortion rights and candidates who support them.

As of right now, abortions are nearly illegal in 17 states. Terrifyingly, since the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision two years ago, 21 states have stricter abortion restrictions than they had under Roe v. Wade .

This decision has impacted all of us – our friends, our family, our neighbors, our coworkers. Every week, we see headlines of people in our nation trying to access healthcare – a human right every person deserves – and being turned away by doctors who are afraid of breaking the law, or by state legislatures who are playing cheap politics with people’s lives.

We have a lot of work to do. We know this. And this year, we have a critical election in every single neighborhood, county, and state across our country.

In order to reinstate the abortion rights that so many people lost under the fall of Roe , we need to vote this November. And we need to make sure all of our friends and family vote, and vote for candidates who will protect and expand reproductive freedoms.

If you’re committed to voting for abortion rights this year, that means voting against Donald Trump, who proudly claimed credit for the fall of Roe v Wade. It means voting for Joe Biden, who has pledged to protect and expand reproductive freedoms. And it means talking to your friends and family about the choice in this election.
