Should the FDA ban harmful food additives?

California is considering a bill to ban harmful additives linked to hyperactivity and more from school food. But why are these chemicals allowed in kids’ food in the first place?

The FDA is failing to keep our food safe. In some cases, the agency hasn’t reviewed food additive safety in decades, even when new research raises concerns. Just take a look:

•	Titanium dioxide can be found in more than 3,000 processed foods and has been linked to DNA damage, but the FDA hasn’t reviewed it since 1966.
•	Red Dye No. 40 has been linked to hyperactivity and cancer, but the FDA hasn’t reviewed it’s health risks since 1971.
•	Yellow Dye No. 5 was last reviewed in 1969. California scientists now say it is associated with behavioral problems in some children.

While California may be leading the way, we all deserve access to safe and healthy food. We need 5,000 of our top supporters to weigh in and urge the FDA to get questionable additives out of our food. Can we count on you to complete our quick survey before midnight tonight?
