Hi all,
I’m thrilled to share that The Hechinger Report recently won two awards from the Education Writers Association at its national conference.
Our coverage of the fallout from the Supreme Court’s decision ([link removed]) banning the use of race in college admissions, produced in collaboration with Soledad O’Brien Productions and published in partnership with CBS News, received the award for Visual Storytelling.
And our story by Laura Pappano about a group of Idaho mothers challenging the far-right takeover of their school district ([link removed]) received the award for news reporting from a small newsroom. As one judge said, “This story successfully does what several others about the same topic attempted to do: personalizes the stakes and shows why it matters.”
Reporting, writing, editing and producing these stories was a huge effort and we are proud to be recognized.
Readers make our cradle-to-career education coverage possible. Please consider supporting our not-for-profit, independent journalism. No gift is too small. ([link removed])
I support this work! ([link removed])
