WHAT: Gov. Justice will celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of two West Virginia University professors for their globally recognized research. Dr. Maura McLaughlin was recently elected as a member of the National Academy of Sciences, one of the highest honors in the scientific world. Dr. Duncan Lorimer was named a 2024 Fellow of the Royal Society, the "Oscar" of the scientific community.

Coopers Rock State Forest

WHO: Gov. Justice, Tourism Secretary Chelsea Ruby, WVDNR Director Brett McMillion

WHAT: Gov. Justice will provide an update on the new $12.7 million cabin properties project at Coopers Rock State Forest, which includes five new stargazing cabins and seven others.

WHEN: Monday, June 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: Coopers Rock State Forest

Driving Directions: Take Exit 15 for County Rd 73/12 toward Coopers Rock. Follow Cooper Rock State Park Rd toward the main overlook. Go past the first left toward McCollum Campground. Take the second left and continue on the road until you reach the cabins.
