Folks, late last month, a Farm Bill proposal passed out of committee and is on its way to the House floor.
I voted against this bill, and I wanted you to hear directly from me why.
Every day I head to Washington, I strive to bargain in good faith with my Democratic colleagues and my colleagues across the aisle, because I know that the real work happens when we’re able to come together to find common ground.
However, the Farm Bill that the GOP rammed through the House Agriculture Committee lacks the common sense safety nets that our communities need. This bill guts SNAP benefits, deepens regional disparities in the farmer safety net and removes critical climate guardrails for conservation funds.
Folks, we need a Farm Bill that doesn’t leave the Midwest behind — this bill is NOT that. Instead of serving their constituents, Republicans used this opportunity to play partisan games. This bill fails to meet the moment and leaves millions of folks in the dust.
The only way we can get a good Farm Bill across the finish line is by flipping the House majority and building our Democratic coalition in the House Agriculture Committee. Will you pitch in to help us protect this critical frontline seat?

I won’t rest until we pass a Farm Bill that prioritizes everyday families and the safety net our farmers deserve.
