John, my story is one truly unique to Texas.

Only in Texas could a young boy raised by a single mother find the support of a whole community to help him earn a full-ride scholarship to college.

Only in Texas could a kid fresh out of college go undrafted by all 32 teams in the NFL draft and then outwork a dozen other linebackers to secure a spot on a professional football team.

Only in Texas could the descendant of a former Texas governor and slaves in East Texas pursue his dream to become a civil rights lawyer and go on to serve in the administration of our nation’s first Black president. 

Only in Texas could a first-time candidate defeat a 22-year GOP incumbent against all odds and become the first Democrat ever elected to represent TX-32.

And only in Texas does someone like me have the opportunity to defeat Ted Cruz – the ultimate me-guy – and be the leader who will fight for ALL 30 million Texans.

But I can't win this race and make it to the Senate without the support of grassroots donors like you, John. 

Because even though we're tied in the polls, Ted Cruz is being propped up by GOP mega donors and super PACs pouring millions into supporting his campaign. I'm running a grassroots campaign that relies on thousands of small-dollar donations all added together to make a huge impact.

So please, will you make sure my grassroots campaign has the resources it needs by chipping in $5 or whatever you can afford to reach our daily $65K goal, help me send Ted Cruz packing, and show America what Texas is really made of?
