Today we have an important update for you on the leadership of our union. As you know, when I took over the duties of AFGE’s National President, I vacated the position of National Secretary-Treasurer.

Per the AFGE Constitution, today, during a special meeting of AFGE’s National Executive Council (NEC) called for this purpose, then-National Vice President for AFGE District 14 Eric Bunn Sr. was elected by the members of the NEC as AFGE’s National Secretary-Treasurer. He will serve in this capacity through the end of the unexpired term.

Bunn began his career in public service at the D.C. Department of Housing and Community Development, where he quickly rose to the position of Local President of AFGE Local 2725. A labor activist for over 25 years, he was first elected as National Vice President of AFGE District 14 in 2013, and has since been re-elected to three-year terms twice, in 2014 and again in 2017.
