John,

If I win in November, I’ll be the only legislator in the State Senate with a computer science background. I’m going to ask you to split a donation between my campaign and Blue Amp Action so I can bring my technology expertise to the legislature, but first let me tell you a story about why that’s so important.

In 2023, through the American Bar Association, I worked in a non-partisan role as a legal fellow in the Georgia Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division. Our office was working on multistate litigation to hold Meta accountable due to child safety issues on Facebook and Instagram.

Despite executives like Mark Zuckerberg saying publicly that his products were safe for children, research has shown that wasn’t the case – so the AG’s office sued.

However, I quickly realized that I was the only person in the entire division with a computer science background. This wasn’t just an issue for the Meta lawsuit; the division I worked in for the state of Georgia didn’t have anyone with the necessary expertise in technology to assist with cases involving issues such as crypto scams, cyberattacks, or AI.

That moment was a turning point for me in realizing that more folks with backgrounds like mine needed to turn to public service. Georgia – and other states across the country – should hire more people with STEM backgrounds across all branches of government. We should provide a STEM education both to high schoolers across the state and make a quality technology education available to universities that serve all Georgians. And graduates from Georgia Tech shouldn’t just be interning at tech companies; they should consider working at the state Capitol.

I have my degree from Stanford in computer science, I’ve worked on and helped build multiple startups, and I’m ready to bring my expertise on law and technology to the State Senate. It’s time for the next generation of leaders like me to bring our voices and perspectives to the government.

If you’re with me, please support my campaign by splitting a donation between my campaign and Blue Amp Action today. I’m a first-time candidate going up against a wealthy fake-elector incumbent. Unlike him, I can’t self-fund this campaign, so I’m counting on grassroots support from people like you.

Thanks so much,

Ashwin Ramaswami

About BlueAmp Action:

We cannot sugarcoat the current situation. Right-wing authoritarianism, defeated by a worldwide coalition during WWII, was only in hibernation. Over the past decade it has infected democratic societies--including ours. It is as simple as it is terrifying: What we do now will define the future of our country and world.

We at Blue Amp Action are dedicated to liberal, open societies, where reason and science are applied to solve our problems; where civil rights--including voting rights!--are protected for all. We fight for these values every day. Speaking up on our platforms, raising the voices and the political prospects of liberal pols and pundits.

So we ask that you support our work, so we can continue to engage in this fight every moment of every day. So our kids grow up in democracy, not dystopia.

Thank you for your support for all we do! Please follow Cliff Schecter on Twitter @cliffschecter, or subscribe to The Takedown with Cliff Schecter on YouTube, to keep up to date with this battle for the heart and soul of our country.
