John, This is the most polluting form of plastic you've probably never heard of. Tiny plastic pellets called "nurdles" are the building blocks used to manufacture nearly every kind of plastic product. Individually, they're tiny -- but they add up to a massive pollution problem when companies discharge trillions of them into our waterways each year.1 PIRG is working to pass laws that will stem the tide of nurdle pollution -- but we need your support. The tiny size of nurdles makes it dangerously easy for them to spill into our environment by accident when they're being manufactured or transported from place to place. When nurdles spill, there's almost no regulation requiring them to be cleaned up.2 That's where PIRG comes in. We have decades of experience speaking out for the public and standing up to special interests on problems -- like plastic pollution -- that affect the public's health, safety and wellbeing. We've rallied supporters to send thousands of messages to decision makers in support of laws that will help phase out the worst forms of single-use plastic. And earlier this year, dozens of PIRG staff traveled to Washington, D.C., to build support for the Plastic Pellet Free Waters Act: A bill that will hold companies accountable for dumping millions of plastic pellets into our waterways. Thank you, Faye Park Your donation will power our dedicated staff of organizers, policy experts and attorneys who drive all of our campaigns in the public interest, from banning toxic pesticides and moving us beyond plastic, to saving our antibiotics and being your consumer watchdog, to protecting our environment and our democracy. None of our work would be possible without the support of people just like you. |
