Dear Friend,

People shouldn’t be confused about how to vote or worry that, if they do vote, they’ll catch COVID-19. In some recent primaries, we’ve seen people forced to choose between not voting at all or voting at the risk of becoming sick.

That is why, in our Young People’s Reproductive Justice Policy Agenda (the Policy Agenda) <[link removed]>, we list Democracy Reform <[link removed]>as one of our six major policy sections. In it, we’re calling for measures that make it easier for all people to vote ALL the time, not just in a pandemic.

As the New American Majority — composed of young people of color and women — increasingly participates in our democracy, regressive politicians have responded with dangerous attacks on voting rights. From Kansas to Georgia, elections are threatened and historically marginalized communities — specifically Black and Indigenous folks and young people — face significant barriers to  voting or having their votes count at all. We must expand voting rights, protect the integrity of elections, and ensure broad participation of young people and people of color by ensuring their enfranchisement.
