Hi John,

I had never spoken in detail about the days that blended into weeks. The
utterly different lives I was balancing - a congressional candidate
rallying voters and a wife living in uncertainty, wondering if her
husband would ever come home or be the same.

But one year ago today, I walked into a satellite studio to tell my
story on Amanpour & Co . I was anxious,
and I had a pit in my stomach.

I wasn't sure I was ready to delve into the emotions, but I knew I had
to because my story isn't unique.

In fact, it is all too common.

Life can change in an instant. Catastrophic health events happen every
day, and sadly, in this moment in our country, we're experiencing this
together.

My family may never have answers as to why James got sick, but he is
stronger than ever now and we are putting our pain to purpose. The fight
to fix America's health care system has never been more critical.

Watch our story of life, debt and purpose

On that day, one year ago, I also launched our 2020 campaign to finish
what we started here in AZ-06.

David Schweikert must be stopped because a representative who votes
repeatedly to dismantle health care and do away with protections for
pre-existing conditions isn't working for us.

While David Schweikert protects his donors and works to protect himself
from an ongoing ethics investigation, I'll protect our families.

I will fight so no American goes bankrupt from health care ever again. I
will fight to put our health first.

I hope you'll join me.

Together, we will win this.

-Anita Malik
