Hi John,
My name is Claire, and I’m a member and volunteer leader with Food & Water Action in Oregon.
I’m privileged to be a part of this community.
One of the things I enjoy most about being a volunteer is that we all work together to ensure that the urgent issues we care about remain in the news and that people are aware of them. Thanks to the research team, we’re equipped with the facts and figures to talk with our communities and legislators about how we can achieve a moratorium on factory farms.
And I'd like you to join me by becoming a member today. All gifts made before June 30 will be matched dollar for dollar, so your gift will have a bigger impact.

The team at Food & Water Action doesn’t just talk the talk; they walk the walk. We’re building political power. That power moves our decision-makers to create a livable future we all deserve, shaped by activists like you and me.
I was fortunate to be part of the volunteer team that helped get the first legislation in decades (SB 85) to reform factory farm regulations passed in Oregon. This bill will require a more intensive water permitting process, develop increased oversight on the practice of spreading factory farm waste on fields, and allow local governments to require setbacks between factory farms and communities.
It wasn’t easy to resist the business-as-usual mentality, but we didn’t give up. We used every tool we had — legal, communication, research, and organizing tactics — to grow support for SB 85.
We still have more work to build a healthier food system, but we have momentum and a plan to expand awareness, engage more people, and pressure our decision-makers to effectuate even greater change.
We won’t give up until there is a moratorium on factory farms in Oregon and across the country! Your membership makes this change possible.
