This Uncontacted Tribes Week, Survival supporters in all corners of the world have shown incredible solidarity with uncontacted peoples. You’ve taken action, lobbied governments and raised vital funds to help amplify their resistance.

We’ve seen before that our collective action can bring about real, vital change – so thank you for raising your voice (and your placards!) this Uncontacted Tribes Week.

If you haven’t had the chance to get involved, it isn’t too late! Here are all the actions Survival’s supporters have taken this week:

Shompen, Great Nicobar, India

• Send an email to the Indian government demanding they halt plans for the disastrous Great Nicobar Development Project, which could wipe out the Shompen tribe for good.

• Comment on India’s Tribal Affairs Ministry’s posts - on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. Choose any recent post - and tell them that the “Great Nicobar Development Project” will destroy the Shompen.

• Join our “virtual vigil.” Take a selfie (like the ones above!) holding a sign saying “Don’t destroy the Shompen.” Then either post it on your own socials, tagging @survivalinternational (Instagram/ TikTok) / @survival (Twitter/ Facebook), or send it to us at [email protected] and we’ll post it ourselves.

• Write a letter to the Indian Embassy / High Commission in your country: let them know that the Great Nicobar project will destroy the Shompen, and must be scrapped.

Kawahiva, Brazil

• Send an email to the Brazilian government urging them to stop the impending genocide of the Kawahiva by fully, legally protecting their territory as soon as possible.

Mashco Piro, Peru

• Tell FSC to stop certifying timber from the Mashco Piro’s territory, where logging activity threatens the tribe’s very survival.
