John, yesterday, the Supreme Court issued a rare 8-1 decision that upheld the government’s right to prevent domestic abusers from possessing guns.
It was a common-sense decision — yet just the week prior, they overturned a ban on the bump stocks that turn guns into even deadlier automatic weapons.
Time and again, we have seen this Supreme Court and congressional Republicans cave to the National Rifle Association and the gun lobby.
My opponent is cut from the same cloth — in the Connecticut Senate, George Logan voted against a bipartisan ban on bump stocks and other deadly gun modifications after the Las Vegas shooting.
He called the bill a “waste of time” and a “political stunt,” saying it “really wasn’t an issue for Connecticut residents” — in a state that suffered one of the worst mass shootings tragedies in American history. Such callous dismissiveness is a moral offense.
But it does not end there — my opponent voted against bipartisan safe storage legislation that required gun owners to better secure unattended firearms left in vehicles.
He blamed “other factors” than a lack of gun safety for violence in America, and said there was no further need for gun safety measures in Connecticut.
Conservative Justice Samuel Alito wrote in his opinion overturning the ban on bump stocks that “Congress can act to reinstate it.” My opponent said he would be “very, very hesitant” to pass any gun safety legislation — so the choice is clear.
If we are going to flip the House blue and pass common-sense gun safety legislation, we must protect CT-05 from my extremist opponent.
John, will you contribute $5 or more to my campaign to keep CT-05 blue and take back the House majority before our end-of-quarter FEC deadline next week?

I am the only candidate in this race who would vote in support of common-sense gun safety legislation, but I cannot win without a strong grassroots movement by my side.
Thank you for being a part of this and helping to lead the way toward greater gun safety in our communities.
With immense gratitude,
Jahana
