Team, this isn’t good:

KOSU: Oklahoma is not alone. Uncontested races are a growing trend nationwide

In one of our target states, Oklahoma, a whopping 40% of the legislative elections already have a winner — because only one candidate ran.

This alarming trend is affecting state and local level elections all over the country, including in other Groundwork target states.

In West Virginia, 76% of their legislative races were won by no contest.

Uncontested races are bad for democracy. No competition means anyone, even corrupt, out-of-touch politicians, can glide to victory without question.

Groundwork Project is dedicated to creating a more responsive, representative democracy by investing in local organizers who empower voters and encourage civic participation — including running for public office!

Can you help fuel these efforts by chipping in $10 today?
