Dear Friend,
I’m so immensely grateful for your incredible support of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)’s work providing care to refugees, migrants, displaced people, and others caught in crises around the world.
As World Refugee Day ends this week, I wanted to share some reflections with you on how your support of MSF makes such a difference in the lives of our patients.
It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the scale of the refugee crisis right now. There are currently more than 110 million people around the world who have been forcibly displaced by war, political violence, hunger, and persecution. That’s more refugees than at any other time in modern history—a shocking statistic.
But when I look at MSF’s global movement of supporters, I see so many reasons to have hope. Supporters like you have stepped up in force, donating to ensure our doctors, nurses, technicians, and the rest of our nearly 68,000 global staff can go wherever the medical needs are greatest.
Your support has enabled us to:
-
Support more than 30 health facilities across Sudan, working with a team of over 1,000 staff—including over 930 Sudanese staff—to provide surgical care, mobile clinics for displaced people, maternal and pediatric health care, and more.
-
Provide about 400,000 liters of water per day at 30 water distribution points in Al-Mawasi and Khan Younis in Gaza. And screen 5,000 patients for malnutrition at Al-Mawasi Health Post in Rafah.
-
Provide 67,000 outpatient consultations in Mexico, including providing mental health care for migrants traveling dangerous migration routes and treating 90 victims of torture.
From all of us at MSF—thank you so much for making our lifesaving medical care possible. If you have a moment today, please explore how your support enables MSF’s work with forcibly displaced people and hear first-hand accounts of migrants and refugees.
